Error: The document <filename> cannot be added to the binder (due to text file).
Error:
The document <filename> cannot be added to the binder because the document type is not compatible with Office Binders. Would you like to continue?
Cause:
The file being added is a text file and Microsoft Office Binder does not recognized .txt files. Microsoft Corporation has confirmed this to be a problem in Office 95.
Solution:
Workaround: Insert a section from a blank Word document in binder, View outside and insert the text file.
NOTE: The following procedure will only work if the computer has sufficient available memory and disk space. Following are the minimum disk space requirements for installing and running Office 95: 28 MB for a compact installation, 55 MB for a typical installation, and 89 MB for a custom installation (maximum). Office 95 applications run most efficiently if the computer has at least 8 MB of ram on Windows 95 or 16 MB of ram on Windows NT.
1) Select the 'Section' menu and select 'Add...'. (The 'Add Section' dialog box appears.)
Add Section dialog box
2) Select 'Word Document' to add a blank document.
3) Select (click) the 'Word' section in the left-hand pane.
4) Select 'View Outside' from the 'Section' menu. (The file Document in Binder1 is opened in Word.)
View Outside in Section menu
5) Position the cursor where the text file is to be inserted.
6) Select the 'Insert' menu and select 'File'.
7) Select 'Text Files (*.txt)' from the files of type list.
8) Click 'OK'. (The text file is inserted in the Word document.)
9) Select the 'File' menu and select 'Close and return to Binder1'.
